Whether you want to give or get help, 211 is the confidential, free and 24-hours a day, 7-days a week way to locate hundreds of human services in your area.

211 brings together organizations in the community to better serve the residents of five counties: Onondaga, Oswego, Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence. 211 is a free, helpful starting point where you can find local services and resources that are available to you.

What We Do

211 CNY is the hub for community members and community organizations looking for all types of health, human and social services in Central and Northern New York.  We provide over 30,000 people every year with information and referrals to the services that best meet their needs, through our 24-hour 211 call line, or through our website and text service. Our purpose is to make community connections, so that people in CNY and NNY can survive, thrive, and be empowered, no matter their situation or background.

How We Do It

Contacting 211 CNY is free, confidential, and accessible 24-hours a day, 7-days a week.  For every contact, we assess a client’s needs, asking questions and anticipating things he or she may not even be aware are needed or available. Then we provide the best referrals from our up-to-date resource database of over 6,000 services. For certain situations we provide follow-up or care coordination to assist people in receiving the services and overcoming barriers such as transportation, documentation, and more. Our professional, compassionate, and highly trained staff goes above and beyond with every call or contact to help people and deliver hope.

How We’re Funded

211 CNY is a program funded by the United Way of Central New York, United Way of Greater Oswego, Onondaga County, Oswego County and 211 New York. 211 CNY also partners with the United Way of Northern New York, Jefferson County, Lewis County and St. Lawrence County. Calls are proudly answered by Contact Community Services.
