Low Vision Services
Provides evaluations and follow-ups for individuals who are legally blind. Staffed with a doctor of Optometry who is certified as a low-vision specialist. Magnifiers, telescopes, sunglasses, or reading glasses are usually dispensed to the consumer at the time of the evaluation.
Program Information
Eligibility: Individuals who are legally blind 20/200 or worse in both eyes or restricted vision of 20 degrees or less in the better eye.
Application Process: Referrals from the NYS Commission for the Blind and Visually Handicapped and area eye care providers
Required Documentation: Documentation of visual impairment
