Mental Hygiene Legal Services (MHLS)
Provides legal representation, advice, and assistance to persons residing in facilities for the mentally disabled concerning retention, release, care, and treatment. Investigates complaints of clients, their relatives, and friends concerning care and treatment. Represents residents of adult care and residential health care facilities and general hospitals in matters involving the appointment of a guardian.

Eligibility: Individuals with mental disabilities in Cayuga, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, and St. Lawrence counties
